Without this love, this job will soon become too stressful, but if a person loves music enough, he can handle all of it. It’s like that old saying: “If you love what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life”.

Of course, besides having love for the music, you also need some skills, and without them, a person would just be lost in this job. So, it is of utmost importance for all those who wish to be band managers to get some experience first. Maybe they could get a job in the music industry, to figure out how the industry runs. Then, once you’ve got that figured out, everything will me much easier. Also, some training would be nice. So, if you’re not that social, start learning how to be, because without any social skills, you would just be a really bad band manager. So, start brushing up on those, or you could sign up for a class in sociology or psychology. That way, you can learn everything you need to in order to be a good band manager.

You also need to know a lot of people. Being a good band manager is all about talking to the right people, and you won’t meat them sitting in your room. So, you need to get out to all the well known music places, and start mingling. You don’t need to know old the “old tigers” of the industry; you can start hanging out with the young guys – they will also become tigers one

If you already have a band, than you should start with the smaller tours, like a tour around your city, where you’ll play in various city clubs. Then, once you get a taste of the job and when you get the hang of it, it will be much easier for you to start organizing bigger tours, and eventually, perhaps even a world tour!
